'We are an Easter people,' said St Augustine, and Alleluia is our song' The Easter mystery lies at the heart of our faith and at the heart of the Liturgical or Church Year.
The Year has a rhythm of its own, and its to the beat of that rhythm that we celebrate and worship so that we deepen our faith and grow in the Spirit. We move through many moments: from the darkness and dim light of Advent, to the brightness and brilliance of Christmas and Epiphany, from the barrenness and challenges of Lent to the the fragile wonder and overwhelming joy of Holy Week and Easter, as well as a plethora of Saints Days and other great feasts and festivals!
The liturgical year is and should be a journey of faith, expressing and exploring every facet of what it means to be human, enabling us to grow in faith. The liturgical year is certainly not to be disconnected from our daily lives! It can bring a sense of cohesion and unity to the school, create a lovely learning environment and is ideal for cross curriculum involvement!
